Loyal/Greenwood School Districts Consolidation Study
The Joint Loyal/Greenwood School Boards have begun a consolidation study following the April 1, 2025 advisory referendum, in which voters in both communities supported exploring the possibility of consolidation. This vote did not decide the outcome; it confirmed that residents want the districts to carefully study the idea and bring back a clear, transparent plan before any decision is made.
With the support of professional consolidation consultants, the districts are now gathering data on enrollment, finances, facilities, transportation, staffing, and student opportunities, while also listening closely to staff and community members through meetings and surveys. A Joint Task Force made up of 24 community volunteers—12 from Loyal and 12 from Greenwood—will review this information, weigh different options and their impacts, and provide a recommendation to both school boards in May 2026.
No final decision will be made without the communities. The board plans to bring a legally binding consolidation referendum to the November 2026 ballot so residents in both districts can make the final choice. Throughout this process, the goal is to ensure that any path forward is guided by data, community voice, and a shared commitment to students and the long-term strengths of both communities.
